Dear mom and family,
Sounds like everyone is doing really well this week which is good to hear. It is definitely a blessing to not have to worry about you all out here because i know that God is taking care of you all. That's sweet that Ian got baptized and i would definitely like to see some pictures of that if you all would email them to me.
Things are going really well here in Gualan. We have to travel a ridiculous amount out here in our area and i have definitely grown in my respect for Dad and all the traveling that he did. Its tiring but God gives me strength to keep going always. Traveling so much and doing so many divisions my comp and i don't get a lot of time to work together in our own area but Friday and Saturday we got to work all day both days here and we were able to teach 15 lessons and find 14 new investigators in those days. It was awesome to get so much done.
We had been having a hard time trying to help investigators to progress but this week we took a big step. We were able to set two baptismal dates for the 13th of November and find and teach new families that i really can see progressing and getting baptized
We especially took a huge step with Hermana Escobar. She is the wife of this awesome recent convert here. The 8 year old son wants to get baptized but she wants him to wait until he`s older. We`ve been focusing on here b.c we know that if she gets baptized then the son will be able to as well and that we will be able to complete a family. The last time i talked with her i got it out of her that she didn`t want to be baptized b.c she didn't think that she could keep the commandment and that she didn't think that she could keep the commandments because she didn't know what they were. So we went and we taught and awesome lesson teaching what a commandment is and then teaching the ten commandments. Then we asked her about what she thought about the commandment to be baptized and she finally opened up to us. She told us that she use to be catholic and that she sees people jumping from church to church getting baptized and that she doesn't think that that is right and she wants to be really sure that the church is true before she gets baptized. Then a miracle happened. We invited her to say the closing prayer and she did it!!! I'd been inviting here to pray my whole time here and she hadn't until she did right then. I was so happy when we left that house. I know that she is going to get baptized.
This Sunday we had our District Conference in Guastatoya and it went really well. I really liked President Alvarado's talk in the general session. He focused on The Family: a Proclamation to the World during his talk. It was very similar to President Packers talk in conference. The spirit really talked to me during the talk and i was able to pull out a lot of good things to help myself and others grow. One thought that came to me is that, I always need to stand for what's right even if i stand alone.
One other thought that i wanted to share with all of you is about service. I was really thinking that we as representatives of Jesus Christ and members of His church we need to look for more opportunities to serve others. I really believe that if the members of the church would give more service that missionary work would explode in success. We need to be better at being instruments in that hands of the Lord so that others can feel the love of the Lord for them through us.
So last week was the last of the change so I guess I'll let you know next week if i have changes or not. I hope that everything is going well back home and that you all are working hard to be more like the savior every day.
I love you all very much and you are always in my prayers.
Love,
Elder Vincent
